Executive Walkrounds

It’s important for the trust’s executive board to be visible to services, and it’s also important that they understand what the key issues are for services and frontline staff.

Executive Walkrounds provide an informal mechanism for the trust’s senior leaders to speak to staff on the frontline and understand what truly matters to them.  The visits typically last an hour, and often involve discussion about what teams are proud of, what makes it difficult to do a good job, and understanding of how current events (e.g. Brexit) may be impacting the service and staff.

Our Executives carry out between 100-150 walkrounds a year, and feedback is collated and discussed at Board Meetings to help inform strategy and pick up on issues.  We also capture key themes and report on them to the trust’s internal Quality Committee.
